Back in the 80s. mixtapes were our playlists. and people had to spend hours sitting by the radio with a cassette recorder in order to collect their favorite songs. Then they had to hope that the DJ didn't talk over the intro or over the end of the song they had waited hours to hear!

Welcome to the Mixtape Ruck!

Nowadays. technology is simpler and you can easily create a playlist of songs to fuel this month's Callout. Whether you and your team want to pick a single music genre and challenge everyone to pick songs to match. or you decide to create a ruck-themed compilation that spans pop. rock. hip hop. country (or whatever other style appeals to you and your Ruck Club). the beat is up to you!

Choose a route that will take you by one or more music-related waypoints. such as a retro music store or a venue that hosts live music. You might even choose to find a concert where you can have your ruckoff afterward and enjoy the sounds of a local band.

NOTE: You can make this a St. Paddy's-themed event by making an Irish music playlist and encouraging your members to wear green or ruck in kilts! Sláinte!

The Details

• Bring a bluetooth speaker so your team can enjoy the music along your route
• Minimum 3 people
• Distance: 3 miles (go longer on this one if you can. you'll have plenty of great tunes to accompany the miles!)
• Bonus cool points for choosing a music-related waypoint or two along your route. or pick a little hole in the wall for a ruckoff afterward where you can support a local band
• No time hack. this one is all fun!
• Use your regular training weight
• If your group is up for a challenge. try to keep up with the beat while you're rucking! Apps like Spotify. Sort by Tune. and Organize Your Music allow you to sort playlists by beats per minute (BPM). which is a measure of a song's tempo. Pick your pace and let the app choose your songs. then get moving!
